Q. How much does it cost to have a web site designed?
A. Web Feats has two package prices depending on the size of the website. Click here for a PDF that describes what is included in each package and the price.
Will the Ultranet replace existing school websites?
A. No.
The Ultranet will include a school portal that can be customised to reflect school colours and logos. However this site will only be available to the school community, not the wider public.
Therefore, schools may choose to maintain their existing school websites so that the prospective students, parents and staff have access to school information.

Q. How long will the process take?
A. As a rough guide a minimum of one term would be required.
Q. Does my school need to get a domain name or hosting service?
A. No. Victorian Government schools will already have a domain name whether they have an existing website or not. Hosting is generally provided free of charge for schools by your school's internet provider.
Q. After the site is up how can I update it and add school newsletters?
A. Web Feats can provide on site training to a member of staff in how to update your website. You will be able to update thel text content, update existing linked school documents and add new documents to your site. A video tutorial on CD as well as support notes on using the free software to update your site is also provided along with training. This training is included in the cost for a medium school website.
Q. What if I don't have the time or the staff to update it?
A. Web Feats can provide this service for you if you wish. See price list
Q. How can I see the progress of the site in order to approve the design of the pages as they are created?
A. Web Feats will upload the pages to a staging server and provide you with the URL address to preview your pages online as they are being built. This way any member of staff who needs to be involved in the approval process can view the pages.
Q. How does consultation take place during the design process?
A. Usually via email however you can also check the progress of your pages online as they are created.
Q. How does the process get started?
A. Contact me and I will arrange a time to come to your school to discuss your school's requirements and take photos. I will send you a guide to immediately start planning your site's content and outline what I will need from you when I visit your school.
Q. Who writes the content for the pages on the site?
A. Usually the school does as they are in the best position to know what they want included. However Web Feats can source some of the content for you from existing Handbooks and Annual Reports if required.
Q. Where do the images on the site come from?
A. Web Feats for Schools will come to your school tol take photos for the website however schools often provide additional images they would like included on the website.
Q. Do I have to invest in buying expensive software to be able to update the site?
A. No. Web Feats will supply and install freeware (software that's freely available on the inernet) at the initial training session in order for you to update your site. Web Feats also supplies you with a video tutorial on CD and step by step notes on how to use the software as part of the medium school package.
Can I have a search bar that will search within the contents of my website?
A. Yes. A google search bar can be included within your site to search only within the contents of your site including searching the contents of all linked documents on the site such as newsletters, handbooks etc.
Can I have a school calendar linked to the site that I can update myself?
A. Yes. Web Feats can assist you to set up a Google calendar and link it to your site.
Can I track the web traffic to my school web site?
A. Yes. Web Feats can assist you to set up Google Analytics and embed the required javascipt within your site to allow analysis of traffic and visitor patterns.
Q. What if the school requires further support to manage the website after the initial training?
A. Web Feats will have access to the web server that hosts your website and a back up copy of your school web site files in order to restore any pages that are accidently overwritten or updated incorrectly.
