1. What you need to know to get started
Q. How much does it cost to have a web site designed by Web Feats?
A. Web Feats has two package prices depending on the size of the website.
Q. What do I have to do to get started?
A. Contact me to arrange a time to meet at your school for a free consultation. If after the meeting you are happy to proceed I will return to take photos so the design process can begin.
If visiting your school is impractical due to distance, you can discuss your website needs over the phone and email images you want included in the design for your school website.
Q. Will my school need to get a domain name or find a web hosting service?
A. No. Most schools will already have a domain name set up by their governing education sector even if they currently do not have a website online at their school domain address.
Web Feats does not sell hosting but can arrange it for you through a Gippsland business that provides web hosting and can register a domain name for your website if you do not already have one.
2. What you need to know during the construction
Q. Where does the text and image content come from?
A. Before I return to take photos I will let you know what content is required to get the site design underway such as a digital copy of your current school handbook, school logo, school policies, annual report etc.
Q. Who writes the site content for the pages?
A. The school is in the best position to know what they want included however Principals are busy people. Web Feats can source and re purpose most of the site text content for you from your existing handbooks and other school publications saving you valable time if required.
Q. How does consultation take place during the web construction phase?
A. Usually via email or phone . You be provided with an interim URL address to preview your site pages online as they are constructed. This URL can be shared with any member of staff who needs to be involved in the design approval process. During this stage you can advise me of any changes or additions you require to the page content I have created.
Q. How long will the construction process take?
A. As a rough guide a minimum of one term would be required.
3. What you need to know after the website is online
Q. When it's complete how can I update it and add our school newsletters?
A. Web Feats provides on site training to a member of staff in how to update your website. A video tutorial on CD as well as support notes using free software to update your site is also provided. This training is included as part of the medium & large school package . Small schools can access the training as an extra.
Q. What if our school is too far away for an on site training visit?
A. Web Feats will email you the video tutorial files and support notes for managing your website and send you links to free software that you can download from the internet to enable you to update your web pages.
Q. What if our school does not have the time to update it?
A. Web Feats can provide this update service for you if you wish. See price list
Q. What if the school requires on going support to manage the website after the initial training?
A. You can contact Web Feats for Schools by phone or email should you require support. Web Feats has access to the web server that hosts your website and a back up copy. If any page is accidently overwritten or updated incorrectly Web Feats can restore it.
